The blue and white jar every Italian kitchen knows. Fabbri has made amarena cherries in Bologna since 1905: small wild sour cherries, cooked gently and kept in their dark syrup, sweet and tart at once.
Spoon them over gelato or panna cotta, or over a Crostata Sweet Butter Pastry Tart with a ribbon of Dolci di Latte, drop two in a spritz or a Manhattan, stir the syrup into soda. The jar stays on the shelf after. More sweets. Also in mixers.
