SUNDAY SLOWDOWN | The fragrance of nothingness

SUNDAY SLOWDOWN | The fragrance of nothingness

"Nothingness is the fragrance of the beyond."

I collect and keep pages of notes to inspire my writing, a thread I can unravel that becomes words that I share with you. Some newsletters, I start well in advance.  Many Sundays, I wake up at 5am and work on them for a couple of hours, until what I've written feels true, then I send off to you.  It's rare, but some Sundays I struggle with what to write.  Despite the notes, the visual prompts from Pinterest, the thoughts that are on my mind, I can't seem to conjure anything up that feels worthy enough to write about today.  Most times, first thought is the best thought, but mine were deleted. A complete Sunday Slowdown went into the trash. I almost sent it, but I couldn't.

So today, you're seeing a stream of consciousness as I process my thoughts.  A thread unraveling in real time.  Nothing of note to share, just the emptiness of nothingness, and a few words on a page.  Perhaps what Julia Cameron calls, the morning pages, three pages of writing (daily) to help sort you through your thoughts.  It's not done on a computer, as I am doing today, but analog- on paper with pencil or pen.  Writing somatically synchronizes body and mind, and it opens up the heart.  But I digress…..

Back to my unimportant nothingness.

Sometimes, it's ok to have nothing to offer. To leave space for emptiness. To sit with the silence. To have nothing to contribute but your presence and attention. What looks like nothing can be everything.

So please forgive me for my nothingness. It's the truest thing I could come up with today.  If something forms later in the day, I'll be sure to send your way.

Until next week, wishing you a beautiful, restful, spring Sunday Slowdown day.
