Citrus Thumbprint Cookies

Spread the holiday cheer with the gift of homemade cookies. Bella Cucina Sweet Citrus Spreads are the perfect filling for a classic thumbprint cookie and we have multiple toppings to choose from. We love gifting a thumbprint-themed box with cookies featuring each of our citrus cream flavors to choose from.

SHOPPING LIST:

2 cups all purpose flour

2/3 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

1/2 cup Bella Cucina Wildflower Scented Sugar, plus more for topping

1 teaspoon citrus zest

1 large egg

1/2 cup Bella Cucina Meyer Lemon, Key Lime, or Blood Orange Spread

PREPARATION: Preheat oven to 350F

Using a paddle attachment, whip butter for 1-2 minutes until light and fluffy. Mix in Bella Cucina Wildflower Scented Sugar, citrus zest, and egg until combined. For the citrus zest, choose the fruit that corresponds with the citrus cream selection. Add flour and mix just until combined. Dough will be a little crumbly.

Roll 1 Tablespoon of dough into a ball. Transfer to a lined baking sheet. Continue with remaining dough. Press your finger or the back of a teaspoon into the center of each ball of dough to create an indentation. Transfer to the oven and bake for 11-12 minutes until lightly browned.

Cool cookies and fill with Bella Cucina Meyer Lemon, Key Lime, or Blood Orange Spread. Top with additional Bella Cucina Wildflower Scented Sugar or citrus zest.

Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator. Makes two dozen cookies.
