SUNDAY SLOWDOWN | The Long Way Home

SUNDAY SLOWDOWN | The Long Way Home

“Do not go outward; return within yourself. In the inward dwells truth.”

- St. Augustine

We trek, we travel, we search, we seek. Mountains and hill towns , desert valleys and sidewalk pavement.  The walks, the workshops, the courses, the books. What are looking for? Have we found what we want, and what is that we truly need?

One day, we realize it has been right here all along.

And yet, the circumambulating is not in vain. Nothing ever goes to waste. It is, in fact, a necessary journey. The path we follow, the tributaries we choose to take. The detours and pivots we are forced to make. It is often the road less traveled that helps us understand ourselves and our place in this world.

It was all here all along, just waiting. Waiting patiently for us to catch up.

Life is like that, if we can pause along the way to see it. To experience all the beauty, and catastrophe, and everything in between. To not rely on only happiness, as this too will change. To not denigrate the adversities, for they are the holy teachers and often the ones who most greatly shape us and make us whole.

Keep seeking and searching, expanding and evolving.  And remember to pause. It is in these moments of quiet silence that the truth will be known.
