SUNDAY SLOWDOWN | Go fallow for a while
"The restful mind is a creative mind. "
- John Muir
Sometimes, we need to empty out before we can add more in. Whether it's a plate too full of food, or our over-scheduled hurried lives.
Our ever incessant minds will try to convince us that if we take time out or off, if we rest our weary bones, or simply put our head down for this moment in time, we will lose out, we will fall behind.
This is all a lie.
You can quietly, but intentionally, rest and restore. You can be still and yet still actively imagine. You can slowdown and allow your soul space to speak. Like the fields that need to rest between crops, there are seasons when we need to go fallow for a while.
Emptiness does not mean inaction. It means loosening our grip, resting our mind, so we can receive more clarity and focus our creativity on what and how we want our lives, our work, to flow.
